System design
Trading discipline is a design problem.
A rule that requires perfect self-control at the worst moment is not a strong rule. It is a hope written down.
“Be disciplined” gives no instruction when the market speeds up. A usable rule names the cue, limits the choice and makes compliance visible.
Reduce interpretation
Compare “only take good setups” with “no entry until all four conditions are checked.” The second rule removes a negotiation. It can be followed or not followed.
Design for the pressured version of you
Rules should be shortest where pressure is highest. Predefine the stop, the daily limit and the action after a violation. The goal is not to remove emotion. It is to reduce the number of decisions emotion can rewrite.
